Trixi, a beloved indoor cat, was attacked by a bobcat in the night, leaving her in a critical condition. Trixi rarely goes outside—when she does, it’s just to sit on the deck with Jena while Taz, the family dog, goes out to do his business. She always comes right back inside and never strays far. Jena didn’t realize Trixi had slipped out and wasn’t in the house overnight.
The only reason Trixi made it to the vet in time was thanks to Taz. When Taz barked, it scared off the bobcat, and that’s when Jena could finally hear Trixi’s weak cries for help. Taz, who usually doesn’t pay much attention to Trixi, woke Jena up at 3am. At first, Jena thought Taz just needed to go outside, but he was acting strangely and barking into the night. It turned out Taz could sense Trixi was in trouble. He alerted Jena, who then jumped over a 10-foot fence to reach Trixi and rush her to the vet.
Trixi is now in the oxygen chamber at the vet, receiving pain medication and fluids to help her feel more comfortable. She is very stressed and panting heavily, so the veterinary team is working to calm her before they can fully assess her injuries. They suspect her jaw and leg may be broken, and she has many scratches, but the full extent of her internal injuries is still unknown.
The vet has recommended intensive care, including IV fluids, radiographs, blood tests, medications, fast scans, a general panel with urine, oxygen, and injections. The cost of this emergency care is a significant financial burden for Jena, who is an incredible animal lover and treats her pets with the utmost care and affection. This unexpected situation has been overwhelming, and Jena is struggling to cope with the emotional and financial stress. Support from friends, family, and kind-hearted strangers would mean the world to her, helping to cover the vet bills and ensure Trixi gets the care she desperately needs.
