My sister Tristin is a mother to Freya and Isla and wife to Andy. On Wednesday, April 8th, she woke up at 4 a.m. with an extreme headache so bad she couldn’t stand. She has had an AVM for quite some time now, she’s had appointments set like radiation, glueing, and surgery options but hadn’t made her decision on what route she wanted to go with (An AVM is a rare condition of tangled blood vessels that connect to the main arteries of the brain) When she got the news that she was pregnant with her second daughter, she had to postpone any kind of treatment due to risks with her pregnancy. After she had her second daughter Isla, she had no concerning symptoms when it came to her AVM. It wasn’t until she woke up in agonizing pain on Wednesday morning. After being taken to the emergency room, they found that her AVM had ruptured. She then immediately had to undergo emergency brain surgery. Her brain was full of blood and swollen so much it tipped. They had to remove part of her skull and try to reduce the swelling. She is currently in the ICU trying to heal and have her swelling reduced so her skull can be put back on, that way we can continue the road to recovery. Two weeks ago she had to have an emergency c-section, and now she is here going through the hardest thing possible only two weeks postpartum.
Tristin is the best mom in the entire world, anyone who has her in their life is so lucky. She is an incredible friend and is always there for everyone at any time of day, no matter what she’s going through. Her love for everyone in her life has always came unconditional and unwavering. If you know Tristin, you know that she is nothing but selfless, kind and compassionate. The devotion she has for everyone is unlike anything else. She has never failed showing her support for others.
Anything to help support her, her husband and two girls would be greatly appreciated. Her husband will be on leave from work for an uncertain amount of time. She could be in the hospital for months and even recovering for years. The path ahead is long and unknown but with the support of her family and friends and anyone who sees this, we can help relieve some of the stress of home bills, medical bills, and care for her two children. Thank you for any support you can give to Tristin, Andy, Freya, and Isla as they face this incredibly difficult time.
