Help Trish Heal from a Traumatic Brain Injury

Donation protected
Dear Friends,

I write this with a heavy heart and deep humility. I never imagined I’d be in a position where I’d have to ask my community for help, but today, I find myself here. Many of you know my wife, Trish. For those who don’t, she is a force of nature—full of life, adventure, and an unwavering desire to help others. She is the person who shows up when someone is in need, offering a helping hand without hesitation.

Now, she is the one who needs help.

On October 26, 2023, a broken piece of heavy gym equipment came crashing down on the front of her head, knocking her to the ground with total memory loss and the biggest dent in her head I've ever seen. When she woke up, she wasn't the same. Trish suffered a traumatic brain and neck injury (TBI), and for the past year and a half, she has battled its devastating effects. She experiences symptoms similar to stroke and dementia—aphasia (struggling to find and form words), memory loss, balance issues, debilitating head and neck pain, exhaustion, and extreme sensitivity to light and sound. Simple, everyday things she once loved have become impossible.

This injury has turned our lives upside down. To be closer to home, I’ve had to make major occupational changes. Trish, who once thrived in everything she did, is unable to work or live the life she once knew. Watching her fight this invisible battle has been one of the most heartbreaking experiences of my life.

The reality is, insurance does not cover the specialized neurological care she needs. The out-of-pocket expenses have been overwhelming. And yet, despite all of this, Trish keeps smiling, trying her best not to burden those around her. But I see the pain, the frustration, and the guilt she carries simply for being in this position.

I never understood the depths of a traumatic brain injury until now. It is not like a concussion that heals with time—it is complex, unpredictable, and for women, even more difficult to recover from. Despite everything, I have held onto hope. But as time passes, Trish is not improving—she is regressing. She is slipping into depression, and to be completely honest, I’m scared. I miss my wife. I miss our life. And I will do everything I can to bring her back.

That’s why I am reaching out.

If you can help in any way—through advice, connections to specialists, or financial support—it would mean the world to us. Your donations will go toward advanced neurological assessments, scans, treatments, daily therapies, transportation, and ongoing medical expenses critical to Trish’s recovery.

Trish is a fighter. She is an incredible wife, mother, and friend—the heart of our family. She has always been the one lifting others up, and now, she needs a community to lift her.

With your support, we can give her the best possible chance at healing.

From the bottom of my heart, and on behalf of the boys, thank you.

With gratitude,
Chuck
