Help Trish Reclaim Her Car and Stability
Donation protected
I have created this GoFundMe on behalf of my close friend Trish. She's got a four-year-old son, Ryder, and she also takes care of her ailing parents and works as a nursing assistant. She's in danger of losing her job and falling farther behind unless she can find $830 in the next few days to get her car back. One administrative error made by a gigantic bank is endangering the welfare of a vulnerable mother, child, and two elderly adults.
$830. That's it.
Trish recently started her job and is in the probationary period. To get to work, to get her son where he needs to go, and to take her parents to their medical appointments, she relies on her Nissan Sentra. Because she was out of work for so long until recently (and given I've helped her revise her resume, I can attest to her job search efforts), she's been catching up on her auto loan with Wells Fargo (WF). She has been making payments faithfully and has an agreement with WF to pay what she can as long as she establishes a date when she'll make that payment.
A few weeks ago, Ryder peered out his bedroom window and saw that the car wasn't there. Trish thought he must be joking, but upon looking out the window, she saw it wasn't there. She called the police, who were able to determine the car had been repossessed. Because she was on good terms with WF and had a payment she'd just scheduled with them, it was a shock to both her and the company that towed the car - with whom she shared all her documentation - that WF repossessed the car.
They told her they had no record of her scheduling a payment. So they repossessed the car.
WF's story is they have no record of the call, but her cell phone records show when she called them and how long the call was. This is not good enough for WF. They've lost records of her calls before and have found them. They are continuing to look for this call in their system. Meanwhile, Trish's car has been shipped to Baltimore for auction, though there's a hold on selling it for the moment.
WF told her if she comes up with $1679 (past due and current promised payments), the car will be returned to her. She's got half of it set aside, but given her limited income stream, the other $830 won't come in time.
Trish isn't sleeping. She isn't eating. She's petrified she will lose her job because she has missed work so early in her probationary period. She's worried about her parents as she has to drive them to their myriad medical appointments. Her brilliant son is worried about her and doesn't understand why they don't have a car.
