Help Tripp Get A Used Car
Hi all, My name is Tripp. I’m a 20 year old agender college student that’s temporarily living with family in southeast Georgia. I’m black, openly gay, and unfortunately I’m in desperate need of a vehicle.
I left the state with intention of going to college in California a month after graduating highschool while staying with extended family; I lived in an area where transportation was far from a problem and I could live somewhat independently. However I made the decision to move back home winter of 2016 due to homophobia and overall inept living arrangements. Within the past year, up until the point I am making this post I’ve only been able to get part-time work, and the wages here are abysmal.
I still have every intention to eventually move out, but all of my money is going towards food for the week, traveling back and forth to work, along with school fees and debt. I use public transportation and ridesharing but the former is unreliable and unsafe as the nearest bus stop is 35min from my house on a stretch of road with no sidewalks where cars often stop and attempt to pick me up, the latter costs more money than I make per hour because ridesharing isn’t used very often here.

I work two jobs, as a customer service associate and a host at a local restaurant; neither schedule me enough hours and I’m unable to save enough for anything that needs to be done due to the cost of simply going back and forth to work. With a car, I'd be able to reach campus and my downtown where there's better opportunity and eventually leave.
I don’t like having to reach out like this, but the family I’m on good terms with is unable to assist me with an expense this large. The money donated will go towards a downpayment on a car that I’ll most likely have to get from craigslist since I’m looking for something that’ll be reliable for a good while and nothing more than. Anything else raised here will go towards my everyday living expenses including a new laptop as mine literally just died on me a month before returning to school.
My mother, still raising two children at home by herself and nursing student, and I are currently selling jewelry through a company as we are both not doing well financially. I earn 45% commission through my website jazzmetals.com , where I host costume jewelry that’s free of common allergens for $5 a piece before shipping and handling. If you’re uncomfortable with donating and receiving nothing in return, this helps me get through day to day. If you want to help me immediately so I can continue getting food and going back and forth to work,
This isn’t an immediate life or death situation, I know most people my age are also struggling but this would make my life so much easier. This will give me a chance to be less dependent on things that are not readily available and I’ll be able to start taking care of myself properly. If you’re unable to donate anything, sharing this on social media would suffice just fine.
