UPDATE 10/1/25: Trina's surgery date was moved up because of pressure headaches she had been experiencing. Her doctors went in yesterday (9/30) with the goal to get as much of the tumor out as possible. The surgery went as planned. Trina is now recovering in the hospital. She has been awake and passing neurological evaluations. The indications are good. After recovery, the next step is radiation treatments, and then she will start chemotherapy.
UPDATE 9/8/25: Unfortunately, given the setbacks and additional surgeries, Trina is facing more expenses than originally anticipated. The goal of the GoFundMe has been increased to cover these added expenses and time away from work.
UPDATE 8/29/25: Trina was scheduled to have a second surgery on September 5 to remove more of the tumor, however this has been postponed until November while her medical team works to get rid of an infection that has formed around her incision and has proven resistant to antibiotics. After 6 weeks of IV antibiotics they hope to be able to move forward with her second surgery and her doctors will then have a better idea of her path forward and recommended treatment plan.

On Friday, May 30, after suffering from migraines for months, Trina finally had one that was so debilitating she ended up in the ER. After no relief from pain medication, doctors ordered a CAT scan where a brain mass was detected on the right side of her brain. She was quickly taken into emergency surgery where they removed an egg-sized mass from her brain (as much as they could safely take) and sent it for biopsy. The report came back anaplastic oligodendroglioma, IDH1-mutant, 1p/19q-codeleted (WHO Grade 3).
While Trina's long-term treatment plan is still being determined, she and her family are facing immediate financial strain due to mounting medical expenses, out-of-pocket costs, and loss of income during her medical leave from RSF Foundation. Funds raised will directly support them as they navigate additional surgeries, seek second opinions, cover ongoing medical bills, and manage the impact of her lost wages.
