This morning (Christmas morning) I woke up to find a text from my oldest and best friend, Tricia, saying she needed me. The message was sent late last night and I knew immediately something was wrong. When I finally spoke with Trish, I learned that the night before her and her children's whole world had been shattered. On Christmas Eve, Tricia,Chris (her husband, their eldest son and eldest daughter walked down the road to a couple's house with whom they had once been friend's. Their middle daughter, Ana, (18) had been staying there and they wanted to see her for Christmas. Upon arriving, they spoke with the man, who went inside, and the woman came outside. She told Tricia that Ana was not there. Tricia called to Ana for her to come out to speak with them. It was around this time that the man came out with a gun, pointed it at Tricia and fired. The shot missed her and the man laughed. Chris then attempted to wrestle the gun away from the man in an attempt to protect his wife and kids. The man fired again but this bullet did not miss, it struck Chris in the chest. Chris passed away in his 16 year olds son's arms. Chris was loved my his wife, children and family. He was the provider for the family through his work as a roofing contractor. There is no life insurance and no income. Tricia is one of the kindest, strongest women that I have ever known. If you could spare anything to help her cover the costs of Chris's funeral and help Trish with expenses while she navigates this tragedy and figures out how to continue on providing for her children (ages 4-9-11-16-18-20) without her husband, anything would be appreciated. Funeral arrangements have not yet been set. We will update as soon as there is a service date.
