My name is Trevor, and I am reaching out for help as I work to provide the best life I can for my family. Over time, the diameter of my residual limb has decreased, which has led to painful friction sores and skin tears. Despite these challenges, I do my best every day to care for my three children, with another little one on the way. My current prosthetic knee is out of warranty, and because of my active lifestyle, it breaks about every three months and needs to be sent in for repairs. Right now, it’s experiencing major failures and will soon be unusable. On top of that, my socket has started to deteriorate, causing even more fitment issues and making it harder to wear my leg as I care for my kids.
Getting a new prosthetic would give me the peace of mind to accomplish what I need to do without the constant worry of breaking something on my prosthetic or my prosthetic leg failing completely. The cost of prosthetic equipment is enormous, and being on a fixed income from disability, I have fallen behind and am unable to afford the new equipment I need. The sores from my ill-fitting socket and liners make it difficult to wear my leg like normal, which creates massive challenges when caring for my little ones as a stay-at-home dad.
I know times are tough for many, but any help—whether it’s a donation or simply sharing my story—would mean the world to me and my family. Your support will help relieve the financial burden of getting a new prosthetic, help me get back on my feet, care for my children, and live life with less pain and worry. Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for any kindness you can offer. God Bless.
