My name is Lena, and I'm posting on behalf of a friend, Trevor Medina.
Trevor is a 23 year old from the greater Chicago area. He has been experiencing homelessness for the past few years, and although he has tried his best to pick himself back up on his own, we are now turning to the community in hopes of more assistance in order to get Trevor to safety.
My friend was adopted by a couple, whom he lived with up until his adopted father assaulted him and then pressed charges for standing his ground. Since then, Trevor has been on his own, from living to his car to the streets to short stays in safer places. He has been attempting to join the military in order to get himself back onto track, but the past record and subsequent court dates revolving his adopted father's attack have detoured that venture.
I have been told about Trevor's trials and tribulations while being unhoused; lack of decency from those who come across him, violent encounters, and the mental health crisis that follows such a turbulent day-to-day. He experiences extreme suicidal ideation and has been hospitalized for such.
More than anything, I want to see Trevor reach a safe place where he can live healthily and happily. He's such a kind spirit, and each day I hope that the world is planning a beautiful apology for the way it has treated him thus far. With your help, we can keep him clothed, fed, and housed during this transitional period in his life so that he can worry about growth and moving forward, rather how he's going to eat for the night. Any assistance is helpful and greatly appreciated. Help me to give my friend a leg-up in this extremely hard situation he has been forced into. If you cannot pay monetarily, sharing is just as appreciated. ❤️
You can read some of his thoughts dating back to 2021 in this article that he was interviewed for about homelessness in America:
