Hi, my name is Darlington Omeni, and I’m reaching out with an open heart and deep hope for someone incredibly dear to me—Trevor, my friend and brother-in-law. He’s a bright, resilient, and courageous young man who has endured a lifetime of pain living with sickle cell disease.
Trevor was born healthy and full of life. But at just six months old, everything changed. He began suffering from dactylitis—painful swelling in his fingers—and jaundice. After multiple tests, doctors diagnosed him with sickle cell disease, a lifelong condition that affects the shape and function of red blood cells.
Since then, Trevor’s life has been marked by:
- Severe pain crises, often in his back, knees, and joints
- Frequent hospital stays and blood transfusions
- Repeated infections like pneumonia due to a weakened immune system
- Emotional and psychological stress from living in constant fear of the next crisis
Over the past three years, Trevor’s condition has required regular exchange transfusions, every four months, just to keep him stable. This procedure is a temporary and costly lifeline, placing a tremendous financial strain on him and his family.
Despite the constant pain and setbacks, Trevor has persevered—continuing with school, taking exams from hospital beds, and facing each day with incredible strength.
Now, Trevor has a real shot at breaking free from the pain. Following a thorough evaluation, doctors recommended a bone marrow transplant (BMT)—currently the only known cure for sickle cell disease. Having carefully weighed the risks, Trevor has courageously chosen to proceed with this life-saving treatment.
And here’s the miracle: his sister is a full-match donor and is willing to step forward to give Trevor a new chance at life. This is incredibly rare—only 30% of patients ever find a fully matched donor in their family.
We are seeking to raise $70,000 to make this transplant possible. Your contributions will cover:
- The transplant procedure and hospital care
- Pre- and post-transplant medical evaluations and medications
- Flights and visa fees
- Accommodation, meals, and daily living expenses during a 2–3 month medical stay abroad for treatment and recovery
- A contingency fund for unexpected medical needs and extended recovery
Every donation makes a difference. Every share spreads hope.
Thank you for standing with Trevor. Let’s give him the chance to reinvent himself and live the life he truly deserves!
With gratitude,
D.O.
