On November 5th, 2020, my great grandson Tre'von Deal entire life changed at the age of 17 yrs old. While in the parking lot of a gas station, Tre'von suffered a gunshot wound in the neck that subsequently lunged into his spinal cord. To be exact, a C-2 spinal cord injury that has left Tre'von paralyzed from the shoulders down. Due to the extent of where the bullet is located, it is a high risk surgery that several doctors are unwilling to preform to remove the bullet. He's not able to feed, bath, walk and sometimes breath on his own. Tre'von has experienced numerous seizures as a result of the trauma, however Tre'von has made some significant amount of progress since the shooting, but still has not regained mobility.
This tragic accident has drastically changed and affected my way and Tre'von's way of living. Tre'von injury requires a tremendous amount of attention around the clock, that I had to retire early to travel and learn how to care for him. We have been on this rocky, emotional, draining road to recovery for several months now. My two bedroom one bath town house will not accommodate Tre'von's
new way of life. These funds will help him receive the proper equipment to live a somewhat normal teenage life again. Included in the cost are specialized glasses used to operate his cellular device, an accessible handicap van, a motorized wheelchair and a new house that will accommodate his new way of living. I appreciate any type of help you are able to provide. We are due to be back home June 16th 2021 from the Shepherd Rehab Center.
