Help Trent's Recovery: Support a TBI Survivor

Hi, my name is Ashley Anderson and I’ve created this fundraiser on behalf of my dad, Trent Anderson. On September 9, 2023 my dad was visiting friends in Breckenridge Colorado and fell off of a second-story balcony onto a car and concrete driveway. He was airlifted from Breckenridge to Saint Anthony Hospital in Lakewood Colorado that morning, and has been there since.

My dad suffered from a severe concussion that left him in a coma for approximately 38 hours- he has since woken up & it has been confirmed by doctors that he has a moderate-severe TBI (traumatic brain injury) to his right frontal lobe and a spot in his inner brain.

With the brain injury to his frontal lobe, his cognitive function, executive function, emotional regulation, and short-term memory have been affected. As of September 29, 2023 he is able to communicate in short bursts, walk short distances with assistance of a support belt and nurses, and able to eat about half of his meals.

We’ve been working closely with neuropsychologists, PT and OT (physical therapy & occupational therapy), and trauma doctors to ensure that he receives the best possible care. At this moment, it will be an estimate of 1 to 2 years for his recovery to take place with the plan of him being transferred back to Nebraska to a rehab facility there. Due to the nature of his brain injury and short term memory loss he will have to be transferred via medical vehicle such as an ambulance.

My dad is someone who has always done all he can for those he’s closest to & even those he isn’t. If he has the means, he’ll always try. He has always said that he wanted a big family & his chosen family is no different. He’ll fill up a room with laughter, jokes, and create a sense of belonging to all he meets. He loves cooking, pottery, football, golfing, his dog Izzy, & his family. A former Nebraska Cornhuskers football player, he’s a man of many talents & full of variety.

The proceeds of this fundraiser will go towards Trent’s medical care including: being airlifted, his long-term hospital stay, medical transport from Colorado to Nebraska, inpatient and eventual outpatient rehabilitation, medications, and general cost of living.
