Our brother, Trenton, is a 30-year-old recently diagnosed with a Glioblastoma tumor (an aggressive form of brain cancer). March 12th, Trenton was at work, when he suffered a grand mal seizure. He was taken to the ER where a CT scan revealed that there was a large mass on his right frontal lobe. We are awaiting pathology results from the Mayo Clinic up in Rochester, MN to make the final call of what grade we are dealing with, but the neurosurgeon believes it is a grade 3 or 4.
Right now, our family is trying to make sense of how something like this could happen to a perfectly healthy 30-year-old, and our world's been turned upside down. We are all leaning on our faith and praying continuously. We know that God has a plan, and he is in the hands of an incredible medical team.
He underwent surgery, March 14th to remove the tumor. Dr. Andrew Livingston (who also removed our mom's non-cancerous brain tumor 3 years ago) was able to remove the tumor successfully. Step 1 is complete. The following day, he was up walking, sitting, eating, and coherent. We are so thankful and praise God that youth and good health are on his side.
Trenton began a new job within the past month, doing what he loves, cooking. However, because of that timing, he is in a waiting period for his insurance to kick in. Because he is without insurance and his diagnosis, he will face extensive medical bills in the coming months.
We appreciate all of the love, support, and prayers. Trenton is the most incredible brother, uncle, son, and friend. His strength throughout this process thus far perfectly displays his calm and understanding demeanor. He has an army of people behind him, and we will continue to fight with everything we have to beat this and get our healthy brother back.
