Dear Friends, family, and kind supporters,

My name is Ryan Murley, and I’m reaching out on behalf of my co-worker Trent Hawke. Trent, a dedicated employee at Bruce Power and a loving husband and father of two wonderful children, was suddenly struck with Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS)- a rare neurological disorder where the body’s immune system mistakenly attacks the nerves.

What started as concerning symptoms quickly progressed, leaving Trent unable to work and requiring immediate medical care. He is now on medical leave from his job at Bruce Power and is bravely fighting his way through recovery at the rehabilitation center at the Owen Sound Hospital (part of Brightshores Health System). The road ahead involves intensive physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and ongoing support to regain strength, mobility, and independence. While many people with GBS see gradual improvement over months (and often make a strong recovery with time and treatment), Trent will be off work for an extended period. Trent has always worked hard to provide and be there for his family, but now his time and energy will be focused on his healing.

I am setting up this GoFundMe to help ease the financial burden of time away from work, unexpected medical expenses, and future rehabilitation costs.
