Post-Melissa Restoration in South Trelawny

Trelawny — home of world-class yam farmers and birthplace of Usain Bolt — is one of the hardest-hit areas after Hurricane Melissa.

Because of your generosity, two farmers from Carterwood, Trelawny now have a roof over their heads again.

Miss Jen and Natty live in a remote community without running water or electricity. With your support, we rebuilt their roof, replaced the back wall, and installed new doors. This work was made possible through partnerships with local hardware stores, skilled laborers, and neighbors who showed up with heart and hands.

They have officially moved back home.

They are yam farmers — resilient, hardworking, and deeply grateful.

Phase Two begins now: restoring their farm and increasing their livelihood so recovery is not temporary, but transformational.

While their home is standing again, they still need help restoring their farm, replacing damaged furniture, and securing basic solar lighting. Ways you can help:
• $50 USD – Farm tools, bedding, water
• $100 USD – Livestock pen repairs or seedlings
• $250 USD – Replacement bed, table, or storage
• $500 USD – Small solar lighting system
Every contribution strengthens their livelihood and dignity.

Thank you for standing with South Trelawny.
