Please help support my neighbors in Treasure Beach
Donation protected
Dear Family,
For the past two years, I’ve had the good fortune of calling Treasure Beach, Jamaica my home. It’s more than just a picturesque coastal town; it is a sanctuary, a place where we say, the distance between a prayer and the answer is nonexistent. Some of you have been there to visit me, or booked a stay at Amelia’s, or seen the photos I’ve made of the community and can attest that the magic is undeniable.
Treasure Beach is a place where community is not just a concept but a way of life. Treasure Beach is home to my family and me, and every visit solidifies our bond with the people, the vibrant culture, and the breathtaking landscapes. Here, neighbors support one another in every imaginable way, creating a tightly knit fabric of resilience and kindness.
On Wednesday July 3, Hurricane Beryl, a record-breaking category 4 storm, ravaged our community leaving a trail of destruction in its wake. My family and I were fortunate to escape physical harm, and our property sustained very little damage. However, the same cannot be said for many of our neighbors, who have lost so much.
The consequence of a storm of this nature is tremendous. With no roof on their homes and four months to go of hurricane season, any rainfall will cause compounded damage. The lack of electricity makes even the smallest tasks that much more difficult and the government anticipates that it will take at least a month to restore power. The impact on the local economy is not yet tangible, but it can take a while to recover financially.
In this time of need, I am reaching out to you for help. I am appealing to my friends, family, neighbors, and community to support the rebuilding of Treasure Beach and to provide much-needed assistance to our friends and families. The funds collected will go directly to helping my neighbors rebuild their homes, provide essential daily needs, and support them as they navigate the difficult path to recovery.
Your much-needed donations will:
Provide immediate relief: Distribute essential supplies such as food, water, and medical aid to families in urgent need.
Rebuild homes: Repair and reconstruct homes that have been damaged or destroyed, ensuring families have safe and secure shelter.
Revitalize local businesses and community organizations: Offer financial support and resources to help local businesses rebuild, reopen, and thrive once more.
Here are a few specific examples and cost estimates of how your donation will help:
Zinc Roofing to Cover Single-Family Home - $1000
Tarp to cover single-family home - $275
Meals for one family for one week- $250
New Mattresses *to replace those soaked in storm - $150
Emergency Solar Lanterns - $75
Propane Gas for Cooking - $50
Aluminum Zinc Roofing Sheets - $40/ each
Cost of transporting material - $40
Treasure Beach is not just a place but a beacon of hope and togetherness.
Please consider making a donation and sharing this page with others. Together, we can help Treasure Beach rise from the rubble and continue to be the haven of community and love it has always been.
I appreciate all of your help and hope you can join me there some day soon!
