Help Us Bring Our Dad’s Guitar Home
Hi, our names are Travis and Vicky, and we’re reaching out for help, to bring a very special guitar back to our immediate family. This isn’t just any guitar, it’s a 1962 Gibson Southern Jumbo, a vintage classic with decades of family campfire songs, memories, and meaning attached to it. But more than that, it’s our dad’s guitar.
Our father, who passed away in 2009, had always dreamed to play on stage at the Grande Ole Opry, but never did. So, this guitar was given to our cousin, Rory Feek, country music singer, by our mother, shortly before she passed away in 2012. Mom hoped that dad’s dream could be made reality with Rory’s help. We’ve wondered about the guitar, but knew it was in the hands of family that appreciated its worth, and assumed someone would reach out if they wanted to get rid of it. Now, we’ve found out, without any warning, that it is up for sale to the general public, without any real information about its history.
Music was always a huge part of our dad’s life, and this guitar represents so much more than just wood and strings. It’s a piece of our family’s history, a connection to moments we shared with him, and a symbol of the love he had for playing. We need to raise $8,000 (the amount it’s being sold for on https://countsbrothersmusic.com/) to reclaim this guitar before it’s gone forever. Any contribution, big or small, would mean the world to us. If you’re unable to donate, sharing this campaign would also be an incredible help.
Thank you for helping, in whatever way you can, to bring a part of our dads heart home to us. Help us bring our dad’s guitar home where it belongs.
With gratitude,
Travis & Vicky
