Prayer Warriors Needed for Garrett “Travis” Smith

Friends and family, I’m reaching out to ask for your prayers, love, and support for my cousins husband, Travis, and his family during this incredibly difficult time.

On January 4th, Travis went to the ER for shoulder pain. Blood work was done, and he was sent home. But on Sunday, the hospital called him back with alarming news: his blood work showed a staph infection.

By January 6th, they discovered the infection had spread to his heart. Doctors hoped antibiotics would work, but on Friday, they found the infection had caused one of his heart valves to become leaky, allowing fluid to drain into his lungs.

On Saturday, doctors found the infection has also spread to his brain. Yesterday, he was moved to the ICU due to the amount of oxygen he now requires. Open heart surgery was schedued for Today, but Travis has continued to spike fevers which shows the infection is still infecting. There is also a possibility that the infection has spread to his gallbladder and liver.

Travis is in his early 40s and is fighting hard, but this infection is taking a serious toll on his body. He’s exhausted and worn down.

Travis is a devoted husband and father, with two older stepsons and two young daughters who need him.
