Hi, I'm Travis Hayden. On Tuesday, January 7th, my home burned down in the Palisades Fire. The entire place was destroyed along with several personal items. Ultimately, I was never able to secure fire insurance because my house was built pre-1972 and in a fire zone. No one would insure it.
I loved this space so much. I absolutely loved living on the beach. This was my dream home. Even when I took a chef job in Silverlake, the hour plus commute never bothered me because I could fall asleep with the sea breeze (I didn't close my bedroom window for 5 years!) and wake up and surf every morning.
I poured my heart into the space, remodeling everything myself. I did the cabinetry, the floors, cut out the sink, I reroofed it myself, even built a redwood deck with an out door shower during lockdown. I always said I'd never sell it in a million years and I'd always keep it in my family. My heart is broken to see it gone.
I'm a bit shocked and don't really know exactly what to do.
If you know me, I am quite stubborn and I don't like asking for help, but this time I think I need it to take the steps towards rebuilding my life.
I love you all. Thank you for all of the support and love you've sent my way already.
Love,
Travis
