Help Travis Rebuild After Car Loss
Donation protected
Friends, this is hard for me to write. I'm not one that likes asking for help, certainly not on this magnitude. At the beginning of this year, I had a major issue with my car, resulting in a total loss. In the aftermath, I had a friend at church challenge me to start a GoFundMe and let the body of Christ help. So, here goes:
As many of you know, I've had quite the financial struggle since my divorce, though God has always provided. I made several concessions in order to keep 50-50 custody of my boys, which resulted in me losing close to 40% of my monthly income.
About 3 years ago, I made the decision to move closer to my boys' mom in order to live in the same district map as where they attend school. While this move has been great for our family, the house I was able to purchase was in much worse condition than I thought, and has resulted in nearly $80k of additional debt versus the house I was living in before.
Then, this past January, my 2020 Kia Sorento had a mechanical issue that resulted in a total loss. Insurance investigated and determined it was a mechanical fault with the oil pressure sensor, and I have lodged a complaint with Kia, though that amounted to little. Unfortunately, I still owed $13,500 on my car loan. The only way to recover was to roll this negative equity into a new loan, which has increased my monthly payments by an additional $200/mo.
In short, my friends, I owe more each month than I am bringing in. Now, I am working on every side hustle I can think of, from selling things I don't need, participating in preaching/speaking engagements, donating plasma... But it seems every time I'm starting to think I'll make it, another crazy emergency pops up that requires more funds than I have. I believe God is working on my pride, and for several weeks now has made it clear I need to make this need known publicly.
So, I'm making it known. All I raise will go toward paying down my car to recover what I lost. If we raise more than the target goal, it will all be placed toward the additional real estate loans I had to take out in order to fix up the house. Thank you for prayerfully considering this need.
