Help Travis Phillips Fight Cancer

Donation protected
If you know Hannah and Travis Phillips... you are lucky enough to know a couple who love and celebrate life.  Travis is a phenomenal artist and professor. Hannah is a dedicated nurse to first time mothers with the health department.  Their pride and joy is their son Wilder.  Wilder is four-years-old and is constantly thinking up the next dino-ninja action movie that he will make with his dad.

I have known Hannah and Travis for 10 years. We became fast friends and I have loved watching them love life while facing each of life’s obstacles head on.

We were all shocked when Travis was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Cutaneous Follicular Large B-Cell Lymphoma in September 2020. This diagnosis came after months of a misdiagnosis, second opinions, and too many biopsy’s, bloodwork, and scans to count. Thankfully, he found his way to an excellent cancer team and after several weeks of radiation therapy things were looking up.

Unfortunately, in early May 2021 new spots began appearing on Travis’ scalp which tested positive for more cancer.

Travis’ cancer is relatively rare. Unfortunately, there is no cure. The only option is to treat each lesion site as they present. Being vigilant and proactive is imperative because this is the only preventative measure available to ensure that the cancer does not spread through his lymphatic system and impact his vital organs.

With each relapse comes more tests, biopsies, scans, and treatment. As you can imagine, this has been a lot to adjust to for Hannah, Travis and Wilder and is becoming quite costly mentally, emotionally, physically, and financially.

His team of doctors at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center are currently presenting on his case and soliciting additional opinions from Duke University Hospital in effort to determine the best next course of treatment. What we do know for now is, routine treatments will likely be part of their lives for the foreseeable future. The balancing act going forward will be how to balance his young age with short and long-term side effects of each treatment plan as the chronic disease develops.

The struggle is real. Nevertheless, they are strong, brave, and still managing to move forward with helping others as their top priority.

With an unknown future, I know providing financial assistance will allow us to help carry this burden.

Please consider donating to this precious family.
