Freedom (Tampa) High School's Band and Orchestra director, Travis Ando, experienced a traumatic loss of his property when his apartment was flooded during Hurricane Milton, leaving several feet of standing water in his home. He had to be evacuated via kayak after 2 days of sheltering with a neighbor above him. He was luckily able to save his music equipment and some clothing; however, his apartment insurance does not cover personal items within, such as furniture. Not only does he have to replace his furniture, but his car was also destroyed and needs to be replaced.
This money will help him re-establish his home and return to a sense of normalcy in his life.
Mr. Ando is a true public servant, diligently offering his time to serve Hillsborough County Schools as a band director at Freedom High School. Mr. Ando has dedicated himself to growing our band AND Orchestra program, providing meaningful opportunities and experiences for our students, and building a community on our campus with all students. He has incredible talent--being able to teach all instruments from band, to orchestra, and even key boarding! He is a true asset to our team, and it is our goal to help him in this extreme time of need.
