My name is Narges, and I am an Afghan woman refugee who has witnessed my country transform under the shadow of the Taliban. When Afghanistan fell, I was forced to leave everything behind and begin a new life in Italy. Through all the chaos, I wrote a book in Dari/Persian about my journey and the experiences of Afghan women living under oppression. The book is currently being published in Norway by Afghan literary scholars who understand the depth of our story.

I am now living in Minnesota, working to build a new life while staying connected to my roots and sharing my story. I want to translate this book into English so that people around the world can understand what is happening to my generation in Afghanistan and to refugees everywhere. The translation will be done by the same Afghan scholars in Norway, ensuring the story’s authenticity and heart remain intact. Once translated, I hope to publish the book, giving a voice to those who have been silenced and sharing the reality of our struggles and hopes.

This book is not just a story written to the sound of a piano. It is a journey through life itself, reflecting the experience of someone who witnessed a regime transform before their eyes. It unfolds as a dialogue between souls—scattered, displaced, and searching—suddenly bound together by a fate they never chose. Through its pages, the book examines oppression up close, as if under a magnifying glass: ignorance spreading through society, and fear embodied in the figure of the Taliban—long beard, rifle on the shoulder—casting its shadow over everyday life. It speaks of Afghan mothers consumed by the pain of separation, of young girls confined by force and denied choice, and of migrants who, even in exile, continue to relive the nightmares of those dark years—when Kabul fell into the hands of tyranny, and people were crushed in chaos at the airport, desperate to escape. Your support will help me share this story with the world and give a voice to those who need it most.
