HELP TRANS WOMAN RETURN TO PAY LAST RESPECTS TO MOM

I love my island of Jamaica, but for someone like me, it's not safe there.

As a trans woman, leaving my home wasn't an option. I fled as a matter of survival. I fled from violence and the fear of persecution, which (unfortunately) was captured on camera a YouTube video where the police saved me from a mob trying to attack me because of who I am.

I've lived in Spain for 8 years now. It's become a new home. A safer one. But it meant leaving my family behind - specifically my mother whom has never tried to changed me and has accepted me despite what our culture has taught us is worth accepting.

As someone on refugee status in Spain. Things have been precarious. I'm able to work, I'm able to send money back to my family, but I haven't been able to go back and I haven't seen my mum, my best friend, in 8 years.

I hoped I would be able to reunite with my mother. That I would be able to make enough money to see her again and stay somewhere that our safety was guaranteed, but after 8 years of not seeing her, I'll never get to again, as I got the call no one ever wants to receive - that my mother died on June 5th, 2025.

I'm heartbroken, I'm angry, I'm lost. And once again, I'm scared.

I want to go home to lay my mother to rest. To do right by her. To give her a final send off and give her a tombstone that honours how exceptional my mother was. She was kind, she loved me with no expectation, and she was my safe place in a country that would have preferred people like me didn't exist.

I'm setting up this Gofundme to cover my travel, transportation and a place to stay while I'm there that can guarantee no harm will come to me while there.

My mom has been my greatest supporter, also played the role as my dad, my reason to keep going , my best friend.

And although I wish I wasn't returning (temporarily) under these conditions, I'm hoping that with your help I can at least return to do this one last thing for her.
