This morning I received a message from my friend Dyna. Her whole world fell apart last night. Her wife of 15 years died unexpectedly after collapsing in their home. By the time the paramedics got there, there was nothing to be done.

This morning she found an eviction notice posted on her door. She has just lost the love of her life, and now she is going to lose her home.

Dyna has a pending application for the Nevada Cares Act housing assistance program and her landlord is not supposed to be able to evict her while that is in progress. But when you don't have money and you don't have resources it becomes impossible to fight something like that.

I've known Dyna Staats for decades. I've seen her bravely step into womanhood as a trans woman, blossoming into herself after decades of living in the wrong body. I've seen her become a talented magician before Covid took everything away. I've seen her have a beautiful woman there to support her in all life threw at them, until her life was so cruelly taken away last night.

I'm hoping to raise $5,000 for her. $3k is needed to keep her home out of eviction. The other $2k will help pay for food and housing for the coming month as she deals with the logistics of burying her wife and trying to find stable ground.
