Being a proud trans woman, Eva’s country has given her no chance to enjoy who she is. She is discriminated against daily and kept from getting work, expelled from her institute of learning and, because of the law that was just passed by the Ugandan Parliament, she had to escape to somewhere she can be safe. Even her parents had to send her away from home after learning that she is LGBTQ.

Eva, who is 23, has been staying with a friend but would like to find a school where she can go and pursue her career, feed herself and be able to afford medication and rent.

“I just want to find a safe place where I can live and be free,” she said.
