Help Trans Day of Remembrance Vancouver

Hello community,
We are reaching out as the organizing committee for the 2020 Trans Day of Remembrance in Vancouver.
As you folks already know, Trans Day of Remembrance (TDOR) is an annual event on November 20th which commemorates the hundreds of people murdered each year due to anti-trans and anti-sex worker bigotry and violence and who were targeted because they were trans or gender non-conforming. The first event took place in 1999 in San Francisco to honour Rita Hester who had been brutally murdered the previous year.
This year, we will be organizing a physically-distanced rally/march as well as online/virtual components. One of our goals is to fundraise enough money to cover the costs of holding this year’s TDOR march and memorial.
This is something many organizations and individuals have generously supported us in previous years, and we are looking for your support again to make TDOR possible.
Our costs for TDOR itself include:
- Honoraria for BIPOC trans women for organizing meetings: $400
- Livestream equipment: $350
- ASL interpretation: $300
- Printing, PPE, & general supplies: $200
- Zoom subscription: $25
We are also hosting two subsequent events: a Trans Community Town Hall and a Digital Security Workshop for Trans People. The costs of which include:
- ASL interpretation: $600
- Catering for Trans Community Town Hall: $250
Grand Total: $2125 (rounded to $2200 to include gfm fees)
We would appreciate any donations to help partially or fully cover these costs.
