HELP TRANS COUPLE FUND STABLE HOUSING & MOVING EXPENSES
Donation protected
My partner and I are in a precarious housing situation, and need emergency funds for an upcoming move. Our current lease is ending, and the owner is selling the building we live in. My partner is recovering from gender affirming surgery, and unable to work. It's been an exhausting process, but we’ve been able to – precariously – secure housing for the beginning of next month, when our lease expires. Unfortunately, we are struggling to raise funds to pay the last months’ rent deposit, as well as moving expenses, furnishings for our new place and any extra living costs that may come up.
Before all this, we had spent the last two years in Nova Scotia, where I was injured on the job and developed a severe panic disorder which I needed to spend a long time healing from and learning to live with my new capacity. It's been difficult starting over in another province, and we know we will thrive with the safety of stable, long term housing.
I am a trans woman of colour who fled Saudi Arabia as a refugee in order to pursue my transition. It’s here where I’ve nurtured meaningful connections with the LGBT+ community, and became more myself. We are in immediate need of support funds in order to move across the city, into stable housing. Anything you can spare would help us move comfortably into our new home, and support us while we recover and return to our respective careers.
In the new year, I am hoping to return to post-secondary and pursue a career in video game design, which has been a long-time dream of mine. My partner, Delilah, is involved in social service provision, and is a practising artist the rest of the time. Your support will help provide for our basic needs during our respective recoveries and ensure we are able to return to our passions safely.
