Help Community Organizer Avoid Eviction after Trans-Bashing

Donation protected
T (pseudonym) is a 21 year old Wasian trans girl from Washington Heights, NYC, who's spent most of her life bouncing between the Heights and Harlem. She's pictured on the left, her girlfriend on the right, in this sketch drawn by her little sister.

She started college, moved out, and came out at 16 years old, graduating at 19. She's spent the whole time working, mostly doing odd software contracts for queer people and organizations, researching and writing on the anti-trans movement, and community organizing with mutual aids and trans support networks around the city.

She calls her apartment "STAR house 2" because she keeps a spare room for broke trans friends and comrades needing a place to stay and recuperate. Longest term was her little (bio) sister, also trans, who she housed and supported for ~2.5 years when her parents reacted poorly to her coming out at 12.

In November, she was attacked and beaten along with trans friends in an anti-trans attack by Trump supporters and struggled to work for months afterward, after already struggling due to inconsistent contracting work among the tech layoffs. Luckily, she now has a job she loves which can comfortably support her and her community work going forward, but it can't help the backlog. So we're fundraising to help erase her debt ($6,000) and make sure she doesn't get evicted!

If you know T, please leave a comment vouching—please be sure not to include any identifying information! We're trying to keep her identity private.
