Tracy Buckner is a principal at Coronado Beach Elementary School in New Smyrna Beach, FL. Tracy was born in New Jersey and was raised in Maine. She moved to New Smyrna Beach during her senior year of high school and graduated from New Smyrna Beach High School. Tracy has worked as an educator in the school district for 23 years. When she's not at work she's at the dog beach with her children, Brett and Madison, and their golden retrievers Roxy, Cooper, Indigo, and Charlotte. Her life was pretty normal. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. In January she received some news that changed her life. Tracy was diagnosed with breast cancer. Although this news can be scary, this single mother of two teenagers has remained positive and made every effort to move forward with strength and optimism. She has continued to work as a principal throughout her chemo treatments. Families were still greeted with the same smile at Coronado nearly every day. As the school year winds down, Tracy is now preparing for her surgery which will take place in June. Tracy's medical bills have continued to grow. Tracy has given so much to our community and our schools. Now I am hoping we can give back to her and help ease the burden she is faced with.
