Help Tracy Stay Independent for Her Kids

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Tracy. I I’m a single mom of three, and for the last 9.5 years I’ve worked hard to stay independent, keep a stable home, and care for my kids while managing chronic health issues. Asking for help is hard, but right now I don’t have another option. I was recently diagnosed with dysautonomia, along with chronic migraines, and I’m still undergoing testing to determine the subtype. My symptoms include dizziness, faintness, heart rate swings, tremors, chronic pain, and mobility issues that make even standing or walking difficult on bad days.

Then my only car broke down. It’s essential for medical appointments, testing, my kids, work, and basic errands. I’m upside down on the loan, and the car is low to the ground—becoming harder for me to safely use as my mobility declines. It also can’t support mobility aids or a wheelchair. I’m raising funds to repair my current car and, if possible, purchase a modest used SUV or minivan that’s safer for my mobility and able to transport medical equipment. My fundraiser amount is based on the expected cost of a used vehicle, taxes, insurance, registration, and fees for both vehicles, as well as repairs to my current car and extra support for bills if I miss work due to medical issues. If a wheelchair is deemed necessary but insurance refuses to help cover the cost, remaining funds will help with that. If funds are leftover, they will go toward another family in need.

I’ve raised my kids alone for almost a decade while working, managing chronic illness, and putting myself through school. I’ve always found a way, but this sudden combination of a new diagnosis, worsening mobility, and car failure is something I can’t overcome alone. I’m trying not to fall behind. I’m trying to stay employed. I’m trying to stay independent and keep my kids stable. Any support means the world to us.

Update #1

This is what I know so far:

  • $170 needed to pay for diagnostics alone.
  • $120-250 for a new battery.
  • Unknown: costs for a new a/c compressor clutch.
  • Unknown: costs for labor.
  • Unknown: what else is potentially wrong with my car and the costs associated with that. I asked for a full diagnostic report with estimated repair costs with labor. They may not be able to get this to me until I either authorize a new battery ($250 through them, $120+ if I buy and bring them a new one).
  • Approximately $350 (if I did my math right based on what information I could find) to register my vehicle.
