ISHNET is a nonprofit to help people in crisis situations. Here at ISHNET. ORG, I am looking to create a GoFundMe for a young lady who was arrested for having a headlight out on her car after leaving work late Friday night, January 16, 2026. While being detained at the ACDC, ICE placed a hold on her, and then picked her up after she was set to be released. Her parents filed back in 2017 to get her citizenship, but it hasn't come through for her yet. We need help raising attorney fees to $25,000. Help me put together a fundraiser on her behalf.
Her story: Support Tracy
Tracy Ateh is a 27-year-old woman whose life story is one of resilience, determination, and hope. Although she was born in Cameroon, Tracy was brought to the United States when she was just two years old. The United States is the only home she has ever truly known. She was raised in Baltimore, Maryland, where she grew up, attended school, and formed her sense of identity, belonging, and community.
Tracy and her parents currently hold work authorization with withholding of removal, a form of protection that allows them to live and work lawfully in the United States while preventing deportation to their country of origin. Throughout her life, Tracy has followed the legal processes available to her, including maintaining valid work authorization through the asylum process and pursuing long-standing immigration filings that began in childhood.
At the age of 18, Tracy found herself largely on her own. Without consistent family support, she moved to Florida and learned to navigate adulthood independently at a very young age. Like many young people forced into early independence, Tracy lived in survival mode. She worked hard, made difficult choices, and did her best to stay afloat while building a life without a safety net.
In late 2024, Tracy relocated to Atlanta, Georgia, with a renewed sense of purpose. She began taking meaningful steps toward stability, consistency, and personal growth. She has continued to work legally and build a steady, lawful life for herself in the only country she has ever called home.
Despite these efforts, Tracy is now being detained by ICE due to a complex immigration history that traces back to decisions and filings made when she was a child. She is currently being held at the Stewart Detention Center in Georgia. At this time, Tracy has not been assigned a case manager and has not been given a court date, leaving her in prolonged detention with limited access to information about her case or next steps.
Tracy’s situation does not define who she is. She is not a danger to the community, nor is she someone seeking to avoid responsibility. She is a young woman who has spent her life contributing, surviving, and striving within the framework of the law. She is asking for fairness, due process, and the opportunity to continue building a stable future in the only home she has ever known.
This fundraiser is being organized in partnership with ISHNET, the nonprofit supporting Tracy during this critical moment. Donations will be used to help cover legal defense costs, immigration filings, and related expenses necessary to pursue release, protect her rights, and ensure her case is resolved lawfully and transparently.
We are sharing Tracy’s story to raise awareness and support during this critical time. Your support helps ensure that her case is seen not just through paperwork, but through the lens of humanity, fairness, and dignity.
