Help My Mom Through Her Dementia Journey

Hi everyone,

I’m reaching out during an incredibly difficult time for my family. My mom has been diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia, and our lives have changed in ways we never could have prepared for. My mom, at age 52, has so much more life to live and our goal is to keep her comfortable during this phase of her life.

Watching someone you love slowly lose their memories, independence, and sense of self is heartbreaking. My mom has always been the center of our family—kind, strong, and full of love. She spent her life caring for others as a public school teacher, and now she needs that same care and support.

As her condition progresses, she requires increasing levels of care, supervision, and medical support. This includes doctor visits, medications, specialized care, and help with daily living. We are doing everything we can to make sure she is safe, comfortable, and surrounded by love—but the financial strain is becoming overwhelming. Our biggest desire is to keep her at home with us. In order to do that we are hoping to raise $50,000.

Medical appointments and ongoing care

Medications and treatments

In-home care and support services

Safety modifications to our home

Daily living expenses as we adjust to caregiving

We are also preparing for the potential of long term memory care which costs several thousand dollars a month. Considering how young she is, this care could extend for several years with rising costs expected,
