I have lived with chronic back pain for 25 years, not realizing that scoliosis was at the root of my struggles. During my first pregnancy, the pain became severe, and since then, it has only gotten worse. Daily life has become a challenge, and even simple tasks like putting on socks are now difficult. My children have watched this unfold, and it has affected not just my physical health, but my emotional well-being as well.
The funds raised will go directly toward essential medical tests, such as an MRI, and appointments with specialists to determine the extent of the damage. After these assessments, any remaining funds will be used for treatment and therapies that can help me regain mobility and comfort. My hope is to finally get answers and relief after so many years of pain.
My children, Ian and Brooke, wanted to share their perspective: Ian: Since moving back after college, I've seen how much of a toll my mother's back pain is taking on not only her body, but her emotional state. Seeing my mom in such agony and not being able to help is as frustrating as it is emotionally painful. I simply wish to see my mom feel truly happy and comfortable in her body. Brooke: It's hard to see my mom, who loves to move, start moving less and less. My mom has been affected by this for longer than I've been alive, but I've seen it get worse. Even when I was very little, she couldn't play Legos with me on the floor. We had to sit by the counter and play there. This didn't affect me, but I knew it meant a lot to my mom. I want to see her get better so she can get back to doing the things she loves. Any support you can give would mean the world to us and help me get the care I need to be there for my family.
