Tracy Lowry has been a pillar of her community and taught and coached in the Stephenville School District for 12 years, pouring back into our youth...loving, educating and going above and beyond her daily responsibilities. She later worked in the Keene ISD for 5 more years before retiring to an office job for the last 6 years at Chase Harris, Inc. Lately, due to her metastatic melanoma diagnosis and treatment, as a single mom, she is finding it difficult to provide for her son, Cade. She is experiencing tons of financial hardships through all of the sky-rocketing medical bills due to her catastrophic cancer treatments. Here is her story:
I was diagnosed Dec 2019 with melanoma. I had surgery Dec 31 and they sent off a biopsy of a lymph node in my groin area. In Jan. it came back with cancer cells present. From that biopsy, they determined I have Stage 3 metastatic melanoma. I started treatments in Feb 2020 and since, my thyroid and other labs have been abnormal. Thyroid is totally messed up. I'm taking 600 mg 9f thyroid meds alone, plus blood pressure, a steroid for inflammation and infection, cholesterol med, anti depressant, and nausea meds. I had my treatment Wed. and labs showed my platelets are high, wbc high, which means infection and my healthy blood cells aren't fighting off the cancer cells. So I'll be going thru treatments til at least July, then they'll repeat a pet scan and ct scan to see if its spread anywhere besides lymph nodes. With it being stage 3, she said I'm at very high risk of it returning. I haven't felt good at all for over a year now, but part of that is due to thyroid. I'm going to a specialist for that, I'll be seeing a dermatologist to check other moles and such.i haven't been able to work due to feeling like crap and the pandemic. It continues to be a struggle since losing mother and daddy within 11 days back in 2014. Just very stressed out and worried about Cade. We only have each other now and he's not handling this. I've always been able to provide for us and this makes me a nervous wreck. I can't even focus on getting well because I am so worried about taking care of my son. I've just about drained everything I had to just get by.
Treatments for Tracy are $14,000 each.
Won't you please help us help Tracy and Cade by taking some of this financial burden off of her so she can just focus on the only important thing, getting well.
Let me just add..Tracy did NOT want to do this! She doesn't like to ask for help...but she truly needs help!
I am challenging the SHS Class of 1981 to pull out your wallet and help this amazing friend!
