Hi everyone,

My name is Krystal, and I’m starting this fundraiser for my mom, Tracy. She is currently fighting stage 4 pancreatic cancer with a strength and courage that amazes me every single day.

Since her diagnosis in July 2024, my mom’s first line of treatment (FOLFIRINOX) has unfortunately failed. She has now been moved to second-line treatment with Gemcitabine and Abraxane. While Gemcitabine is covered through BC Cancer, Abraxane is only covered for first-line treatment. Because of this, she must now receive it at a private clinic, where it is not covered through insurance or BC Cancer.

This leaves us with an out-of-pocket cost of $3,000 every month. Up until now, we have been doing everything we can to cover these costs, but it has become increasingly difficult to keep up.

On top of this, my mom is no longer able to work at her job at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital due to her diagnosis. She now only receives CPP, which barely covers her monthly expenses. Her husband has also been unable to work since his diagnosis of Huntington’s disease in 2021, leaving them with no other income to rely on. For the past few years, my mom has been his primary support and caregiver, which makes this battle even more overwhelming.

This has put a huge financial strain on us during what is already the most difficult time of our lives. Any help you can give, whether it’s donating or sharing this page, would mean the world to us. Every little bit truly makes a difference, and we are so grateful for the support.
