In 2022, I took a leap of faith to change careers and pursue my purpose as a holistic health care practitioner. I invested my retirement and savings, reduced my hours in my 20+ year career as a CST, and focused on helping people directly. However, my rent increased and my income dropped, eventually leading to eviction from my home, where I shared 50/50 custody of my two teenage boys.

To keep going, I accepted a travel position in the OR and rented a home for a 12-week contract. When the contract ended, I lost my job and my lease, leaving me fully homeless. I briefly stayed in a shelter, but it worsened my mental health, so I found support from friends and visited my children daily. After nine months, I secured a full-time hospital job and, six months later, a home for my boys and me. Yet, the trauma lingered, and I began suffering from severe anxiety and panic attacks at work. I was fired for performance, and I took accountability, knowing I couldn’t care for patients while struggling myself.

I persevered by delivering with Uber Eats and renting my boys’ rooms on Airbnb every other week, but it wasn’t enough. We lost our home again in January 2025. With no other option, I returned to family in Georgia to focus on therapy. In May, I reunited with my boys in Florida and began rebuilding. But on December 5, 2025, I was in a car accident. With only liability insurance, I now have no means of income and am at risk of losing my residence again. I am humbly asking for help to keep our home and find transportation so I can earn income and rebuild stability for myself and my children. It’s not easy to reach out, but I’ve learned I cannot do this alone and have been humbled by being vulnerable and asking for support.
