Help Tracie Lizama in mourning of husband David
Donation protected
On Friday, April 30, my stepfather David Lizama tragically passed away at the young age of 49.
For those blessed to have known or share a life with David, he was the light. His warm, comforting presence, his sense of humor, and his kindness defined him, as he was always there to make the best of any and all of life’s moments—whether it was lending his hand, cracking a joke followed by that signature David smile, or simply preparing a delicious Islander meal of chicken Kelaguen and rice that would soothe your soul. His shining optimism, his generosity, and his natural selflessness followed him wherever he went and touched whoever he met.
He put others before himself without question, and this is especially true for his family. David was the youngest of six siblings, a husband to my mother Tracie, a father and a “bonus Dad”…and he never failed to put the needs of our family above his own. He helped carry us through the tough times, allowed us to flourish in the best times, and made sure that through it all, we made the most of the time we would spend together.
Of course, he also loved his 9ers. His Warriors. His golden state of California, his community in Salinas…yet above all, just to love and be loved by others. And he will be missed beyond that which words can describe.
As our family continues to grieve, my mother Tracie has been preparing to weather storm of financial hardship . David worked tirelessly to make sure that her needs were met, and with him gone, supplying and funding those needs will become significantly more difficult: bills, groceries, all in addition to other expenses that occur when someone you love passes away.
It’s at a time like this that any contribution—from friends, family, peers, even strangers reading this who can relate to knowing someone as kind and gentle as David, or what it’s like to lose a loved one of your own—can help alleviate some of the financial stress that comes with such a tragedy. Not only will it allow my mother to find some space to breathe as we continue to mourn, but it will also allow us to make sure that those life necessities are covered and accounted for.
All donations will go directly to my mother and David’s wife Tracie Lizama. She and myself thank you so, so much in advance for any and all contributions. And even if you cannot contribute monetarily, kind thoughts, prayers, and words also go a long, long way.
