Hi everyone! My name is Jasmine, Tracey's middle daughter. I am posting this on behalf of my mother.

Tracey has been deaf since a very young age. 

On June 19th of 2013, my mum, 39 years old,  heard sound for the first time. She heard all three of her daughter's voices, her own voice, birds chirping, and even a toilet flushing. She underwent surgery that very few people have ever experienced. Due to the fact that she does not have functioning eardrums like most, the options for hearing aids were slim. Until we discovered the BAHA. A BAHA is a bone anchor hearing aid. The surgery to equip my mum with this hearing aid meant they had to drill a titanium screw into her skull so that the hearing aid could pick up the vibrations of sound through the skull. 

Over years of having the BAHA, mum's hearing has diminished drastically. She went from having a total of 30% hearing to just below 6%. This decrease has been the result of several infections, strokes, and surgeries.

The only way for Tracey to gain back the hearing she had in 2013 is for her to get a new state-of-the-art BAHA. Because my mum already has a BAHA, the cost of a new hearing aid is not covered by insurance. A bone anchor hearing aid costs $10,000 CAD. 

My mum is one of the most giving people I have ever met. She is known for putting others ahead of herself always. I think it's about time that she gets something back. I have set the goal for this fundraiser to the full price of a new hearing aid for my mum, but anything and everything donated would help immensely.
