Help towards Enzo's additional treatments
Donation protected
Enzo is a special dobermann who, at not even 2 a half, has been diagnosed with stage 5, T cell multicentric lymphoma. In his short life so far he has achieved an advanced trick dog title, he has climbed munros, he has been a canine blood donor and he most recently qualified for Crufts 2022. We were working towards our scentwork titles as well as our Schutzhund BH. Of course, this has all been put on hold whilst we get him healthy again.
Whilst on holiday at the end of October he became lethargic, anorexic and developed further complications of sickness and laboured breathing. We went to an out of hours emergency vet who conducted 1k worth of tests. We drove from north wales back to scotland in one day to get him home and comfortable. The week following was back and forth to the vets for more tests and medications. On the morning of 5th November he went into the veterinary hospital for further tests and diagnosis. He finally came home on the evening on Tuesday 16th. The cancer meant he has lost 8kg in body weight in that time and he is currently still struggling with breathing properly due to the lymph nodes in his neck, face and lungs. We hope that the chemotherapy will reduce this overtime.
We have insurance up to 15k yearly so his vet bills and chemotherapy is covered up to that amount but we do have to pay a £69 excess plus 20% of the claims (currently around £1800).
I was asked numerous times if any one could help with his additional supplements, food and extras (such as lost wages). I am very hesitant to post anything like this but I appreciate that so many people love Enzo and want to give what they can to aid his recovery.
He gets chemo every monday (we are on week 2 currently) and we have gone for the full CHOP protocol which gives around an 85% chance of remission. I have an oncology consult booked for 18.11.21 which will give us an idea of prognosis and a protocol going forward. I also have a herbal vet consult on 26.11.21 to gain clarity on the best herbal supplements, diet and complementary therapies to aid his recovery. Currently, I am unsure if these consults will be covered by insurance although both have already been paid in advance. total £304
His current daily routine for treatment is 3 tablets 3 times a day of Apocaps (£60 for 90 capsules). He has 2 doses of the CBD brothers purple paste. 10am and 10pm he has omeprazole to offset the effects of his 12 noon 2 prednisolone tablets for his chemotherapy. We have some cerenia 80mg on hand to help with any nausea and to keep him eating.
Enzo has been raw fed since a pup but we have decided to swap to home cooked to prevent any possible issues due to him being immunocompromised. We are following the canine cancer diet outlined in Dr Sue Ettinger and Dr Demian Dresslers book ' The dog cancer survival guide'.
I am a self employed dog walker, trainer & behaviourist. I am currently off to be with him and give him his care.
