In October 2024, the Candy’s and the Darlington’s ventured off on an adventure of a lifetime in the region of East Africa. Whilst touring we visited some amazing places and had unbelievable experiences.
However, we also saw the true meaning of poverty and hardship people must face, including the children of Diani, Mombasa. This has stuck with us ever since!
On the 16th of October, the four of us attended a tour around the Digital Junior School. Whilst there we looked at the four cramped and very basic classrooms the school had to offer; the school was clearly very poor and underfunded. Although this was a major issue it didn't affect the pupils, aged between three and nine. Their positivity and enthusiasm towards learning was unwavering.
The Head Teacher is the most passionate woman who runs the school to a remarkably high standard surrounded by such poverty and deprivation. We came away totally in awe of her and overwhelmed with the urge to assist her and the school. She is in the process of buying a plot of land to build a new school where the funds raised will be a huge contribution.
Any donation will be greatly appreciated and we'd like to thank you for taking the time to visit our Go Fund Me page.
