Dear friends, family, and kind-hearted strangers,
I’m reaching out on behalf of my dear friend Tovia, who has recently faced an unimaginable tragedy. On October 31st, Tovia’s family moved into a new rental home, excited for a fresh start. However, on Sunday night, while making the last trip to grab the left over clothes hanging in the closets of the old apartment, disaster struck at the new rental. A fire broke out, and tragically, Tovia's beloved four-year-old Boxane, Kira, was trapped inside, they could hear her cries from outside, as you can imagine it was absolutely gut wrenching.
In a desperate attempt to save her, Matt and Tovia tried racing into the smoke-filled home multiple times, but was unable to see or reach Kira. Thankfully, the firefighters arrived just in time and entered the home to rescue her. Kira was immediately in need of CPR and required fluids and oxygen while being transported to an emergency animal hospital 40 minutes away.
Currently, Kira is in critical condition. The veterinary team had to sedate and intubate her to clear the soot from her throat and mouth. She is receiving round-the-clock care and needs to remain in an oxygen chamber for at least 48 hours, that alone costs $400 an hour. The vet bills have already reached approximately $10,000 since last night, and they will continue to rise as Kira fights for her life.
Tovia and Kira have been through so much, and right now, they need our help more than ever. Everything they have is gone. Kira is not just a pet; she’s family, and Tovia can’t imagine life without her. We are asking for your support, no matter how big or small, to help cover the emergency medical expenses and ensure Kira has the best chance at recovery.
Please consider donating and sharing this post with others. Every bit helps, and your kindness will mean the world to Tovia and her family during this difficult time. Thank you for keeping Kira in your thoughts and prayers—together, we can help her pull through.
With love and gratitude,
Kristen
