Over Memorial Day weekend, my cat Toulouse had to be rushed to the emergency room due to a urinary blockage. Male cats are more prone to blockages because of their anatomy, and it can quickly become a life-threatening emergency. Toulouse has struggled with urinary blockages throughout his short three years alive, and this time, the situation was so severe that he needed a perineal urethrostomy. Although this surgery is much more involved and costly compared to previous treatments, I had no choice but to move forward with the surgery to save his life.

Toulouse and his bonded sister, Pilchard, mean everything to me. While the surgery aims to improve Toulouse’s long-term quality of life, the financial aftermath has been overwhelming. The upfront costs for emergency care and surgery have left me in a difficult position, but I am determined to do everything I can to help Toulouse recover and thrive.
