Let me tell you about my friend Tori. She is a hard working single mom who raised 3 incredible children. Her two youngest are now in the army and her older son is a new dad. Being a mom is her greatest joy, until baby Morgan came along and now being a grandmother is right up there with it.
She recently became ill during a trip to Vegas and came home and drove herself straight to the ER. Hoping to be told it was nothing, she was told she needed surgery due to her appendix perforating. It hadn’t burst but it was extremely infected and when the surgeon went it, she had to scrape all the way to her abdominal wall! She then had to spend 3 days in the hospital because the infection was so bad. After being home for a week, she went back to have her drain removed. She planned to get some work done as soon as she came back but instead she was hit with another blow. They found a tumor on her colon.
It’s not colon cancer but the cancer is so rare that only 1% of those with appendicitis have it. Even though they aren’t correlated to each other, it seems to only be found when the appendix is removed. Ideally, if the appendix hadn’t perforated, the cancer would have been contained in the appendix. But it wasn’t and here we are. To make matters worse/scarier, Tori had to let her insurance lapse last year as she lost most of her business due to COVID. She does promotional advertising, so if you need anything for your business, let her know!! That being said, she will have a hefty bill for the emergency appendectomy and follow up visit. We have since been able to get her medical insurance which is effective June 1 thankfully!! BUT, she is still not back to 100% from the first surgery and they are now telling her she needs a second surgery immediately where they want to remove the right side of her colon. She is hoping to get a second opinion now that she has insurance again. But she will still have copays and other expenses while not being able to work.
I am hoping you can donate any amount at all to help my friend get through this rough patch. Her two younger kids already lost their dad a few years ago in a motorcycle accident. They can’t lose their mom too. Please share her story so that others may see it and possibly donate as well. We have no idea what lies ahead but we are here with her and we are thankful for any help we can get her. Thank you for your time reading and sharing! I am adding her FB post below to explain more about this cancer.

I had my follow up with my surgeon yesterday. I have been diagnosed with Low-grade Appendiceal Mucinous Neoplasm. It is extremely rare, I had a 1% chance of having this tumor, and here I am. What little information I have at this time, makes me hesitant to speculate what this journey will look like. As of right now, there is another surgery to be scheduled at my next follow up on June 2nd. I would love & appreciate all prayers. ♥️
