My name is Katya, and this is my Tor. He’s an 8-year-old Maine Coon who has been with me through my entire adult life, every difficult chapter, my whole immigration journey. He’s the little soul that grew up next to me and been my support in everything, I cannot imagine my life without him.

Few weeks ago I found out he has a tumor in his chest that pressing on his heart and lungs. So far we did CT scan, two chest X-rays, two ultrasounds, cytology test, PARR testing, consultation with oncology and surgery.

Last Friday his lungs collapsed, we had to rush to ER, where he was placed in an oxygen cage and had emergency fluid drainage to save his life. Everything we’ve done so far has already cost around $9,500, and I covered it on my own.

The CT showed that the tumor is large and invading a major vessel, which makes surgery extremely dangerous. There’s a risk he wouldn’t survive an operation right now.

After consultation with oncologist we decided that the safest way would be radiation.

Tor will start definitive RapidArc radiation therapy next week.

This is the best chance to shrink the tumor, stop the fluid from coming back, and stabilize him. If the tumor responds, surgery may become an option later.

Until radiation starts working (which takes a little time), Tor may need multiple chest fluid drainages, a temporary draining tube placed, a follow-up CT scan to see if the tumor is shrinking. The cost of radiation alone is $11,600.

With the expected drainages, tube placement, and another CT scan, the total will be around $16,000.

I’ve already paid thousands and covered as much as I possibly can, but the next steps are more than I can handle on my own.

I love him more than anything. He is the sweetest, kindest and most gentle cat in the whole world. He’s only 8 years old and still has so much life ahead. I would give anything to save him and keep him live comfortably.
