Hi everyone, my name is Tonya, and I’m asking for support for my mom.

On September 30, my grandmother passed away. My mom and her siblings spent every moment by her side while she was on hospice, caring for her until her final breath. Not long after, my mom developed shingles from all the stress and exhaustion.

I’ll never forget watching doctors pump her chest for ten minutes straight trying to bring her back. She was placed on a ventilator with a tube down her throat. For a full week, we didn’t know if she would make it. When she finally came off the ventilator, she was confused — she didn’t remember what happened.

At first, the doctors said her heart looked good, her MRI and EEG came back normal, and she wouldn’t need any surgeries. But something still wasn’t right. My mom couldn’t walk, hold her phone, or think clearly. Her confusion got worse every day.

They said it could be from the medication or stress, but as time passed, she didn’t improve. She became like a newborn baby — needing help with everything. I had to transfer her from Trinity to Christ Hospital because she wasn’t getting the care or answers she deserved.

Now, it’s been three weeks, and out of nowhere, she’s started having constant seizures. She’s in the hospital with an EEG cap wrapped around her head, and I feel like I’m watching her slip further away. I break down every day because I just want my mom back.
