I’m starting this fundraiser on behalf of my dear friend, Tony Wolbert. T-Bird is going through a very difficult time right now; a ridiculously hard time that unfortunately has multiple layers.

Tony’s Health:

Tony has diabetes and it’s progressively gotten worse over the past few years. The disease has wreaked havoc on his body. So bad that he signed authorization to have four toes amputated on his right foot. The podiatrist changed his mind the day before surgery and decided to only amputate his big toe with the hope of saving the other three. He’s not out of the woods yet. Despite taking only one toe, he has neuropathy throughout the other three toes and his entire foot. Because of this, Tony’s balance is not great and his ability to stand for long periods of time is not possible.

Tony’s Work:

Wolbert is a blue collar worker, a good ol’ boy who’s always made a living off the sweat of his brow for the past 40 years. His job requires him to stand for eight hours a day and walk up to five miles. This is not possible for him today.

Tony’s Insurance:

Tony’s short term disability was denied because the insurance company said his diabetes is a preexisting condition. After the amputation, the rehabilitation center quickly kicked him out before he was properly healed because his coverage ran out. Wolbert has filed a claim for social security disability with the help of an attorney, but it’s a lengthy process and there aren’t any guarantees he’ll be approved. This process can take up to a year but he’s asked they expedite the claim.

Further Concerns:

Days after getting kicked out of the physical rehabilitation center, Tony’s car was involved in a car crash that totaled his car. He’s now toe-less , car-less and literally on the verge of being homeless. Tony doesn’t have any income nor a car to get to doctor appointments, or to go buy supplies as needed. He’s 100 percent dependent on his three siblings and his closest friends. We’re asking for some help.
