We would assume by this juncture that many of you have seen our posts on Facebook regarding Ex- Chief Tony Ceglia. For those who have not or have questions, we would like to explain more about what is happening. Shortly after Christmas, Tony had COVID followed by other questionable medical issues roughly a week after COVID had run its course. After many tests, he was suddenly and unexpectedly sent to the hospital for additional answers and to begin treatment immediately.
Tony’s diagnosis, Acute Myeloid Leukemia, is extremely rare, however, it is believed to have been caught quickly. He is currently undergoing 7 days of intense chemo treatment. This chemo will knock his bone marrow down to minimal, and hopefully eliminate the cancer. This is only the beginning of the long course of treatments. It will be a roller coaster of both physical and emotional feelings- some days being better than others- not only for Tony and Trish, but their families, fire department family, and all who know them. We want them to know they are not in this alone, and we are all along for the ride with them.
We first ask that everyone prays for Tony, his wife, and their families. Secondly, we are looking for donations to help with the endless expenses which are associated with medical bills, travel, ordering food on the go, and all of the other unexpected which will undoubtedly arise. No amount is too small and any donations would be so greatly appreciated.
Additionally, the members of Hardyston Fire Department with the help of other willing local department volunteers, will be hosting various fundraisers at different times to continue to support the family. This is only the beginning of a very long road for them, therefore, not everything will occur at once and will be ongoing. Please check back and continue to follow updates on Facebook, or reach out any member for more information regarding current and upcoming ways to help.
Tony is one of the most caring, giving, and selfless people we know who would always go out of his way to help someone else in need. Now it is time to help out a friend and brother in need. Thank you in advance for any and all contributions at this difficult time.
