Help Tony Turner With His Kidney Transplant
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Penny and I am Tony's younger sister. On behalf of Tony’s wife, our mom and our siblings, I would like to thank you for taking the time to read this story about my brother.
In 2011, Tony was diagnosed with diabetes type 2.
In recent years, this illness has really gotten the best of my brother and he has found himself fighting for his life on multiple occasions - including many of the eight emergency hospitalizations he's had this year alone.
In August of 2021, Tony received the news that he needed dialysis to prolong his life and was put on a kidney transplant list.
Since then, he receives dialysis 3x/week, each session lasting 5 hours. Various family members have rallied around him to rotate the responsibility of getting him to and from each of his dialysis appointments, as he can no longer safely drive himself there and back - 80 miles round trip.
He has now reached the point that a life saving kidney transplant is imperative and the search for a possible match is actively underway, with surgery to take place at Northwestern Medical Center in Chicago. When that happens, he will have a 3-4 day hospital stay before he is able to return home, where he will need 24 hour care for some time.
With the aggressive dialysis schedule and Tony’s deteriorating strength, he has been unable to work, adding to the financial burden he faces.
To compound their financial needs, Tony’s wife, Debbie, is on disability, as she lives with a significant scoliosis condition that has been the cause of multiple major back surgeries.
We are asking you to prayerfully consider a donation to this fund to assist Tony and Debbie in paying for any residual medical fees that insurance doesn’t cover, travel and lodging expenses, household expenses and any other expenses that they face during this time.
If you are not able to contribute financially, we would be grateful if you share this page with your family and friends.
Lastly and most importantly, we ask that you lift Tony and Debbie in prayer as they navigate this challenging time in their lives.
Again, thank you for taking the time to consider Tony’s needs.
