Help Tony Keep His Home!
My name is Antonio R. Villarreal. I am reaching out to let you know I am fundraising to pay my bills and keep the roof over my head after becoming disabled and losing my job following risky surgery in April 2020. The Ependymoma brain tumor and subsequent surgery damaged areas of my brain affecting vision, speech, mobility and memory. I've become dependent on others to do what I so wish I could do myself.
I miss my life. For 12 years I was the Lost and Found Coordinator with Dallas Animal Services helping owners find and reconnect with theirfour legged family members. I loved that work and also the volunteering I did for 13 years in caring for AIDS patients and terminally ill senior citizens. Now the care I used to give to others, I find unable to give to myself. I am blessed to have friends who do what they can for me, but they have lives of their own and cannot devote daily attention to my many needs.
I was dealing with numerous chronic conditions even before the tumor diagnosis. But, with the added physical issues following surgery, my life has become one doctor visit after another and always one too many bills to worry over and pay.
I know many are in dire straights like I am after this horrific year of Covid. If they haven't lost loved ones, they have lost their livelihoods and homes. But now as the country begins to regain its footing and many seek and find work, I will remain helpless and unable to do the same to support myself. I desperately don't want to lose my home. I have sold personal possessions in my effort to survive and just recently found a new home for my precious macaw named Yala, who I could no longer afford to care for. It breaks my heart. I have negotiated and continue to negotiate with my many creditors to reduce my debt, but I am at the end of options. I owe roughly $59,000 on my mortgage loan, but I'm not asking for that amount. If I could just reach my goal of $10,000, I believe that will buy me the time I need to let my near poverty level fixed income catch up with these bills. I swallow my pride as I ask for whatever anyone can contribute to help me pay my mortgage and keep the wolves from my door. Simply click the link to my fundraiser below to help. And, if you could share my link with any family or friends who might want to help, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time to read my plea for help and may God watch over us all. Very sincerely, Antonio R. Villarreal
